Nail Fungus Treatment In North York
What is a fungal nail infection and how can it be treated?
Fungal infection occurs when a fungus infects your nail bed, fingernail, or toenail. Fungi can infect your nails with small cuts or openings between the nail and the nail bed. The infection is unlikely to cause any serious complications if you are healthy.
What causes nail fungus?
Fungal nail infections may be caused by yeasts or molds.
Fungi thrive in moist, warm places. Fungi can easily spread from one person to another. A fungal nail infection can be contracted by walking barefoot in public pools and showers or sharing personal items such as towels or nail clippers. The fungal infection can spread to your nails if you have athlete’s feet.
It is possible to have fungal infections on your skin and not get a nail infection. Fungal infections can return if you are at risk. Even after successful treatment, they can return even if you do not take preventative measures.
